lisaboyle09 Quick Fix beauty secrets! Dec 22, 2009 1:20 PM Say goodbye to spending your cocktail money in the beauty room! Look just as good from the comfort of your own home with these fabulous free beauty tips!   For glowing skin... If your a bit like myself and your skins not so bright during the winter, you can get your glow back with a touch of moisturiser and a damp face cloth. First of all use a rich moisturiser such as nivea 99p from most shops and chemists on your skin. Work from the chin upwards in circular motions for about two minutes massaging your skin. after you have rubbed it in. Add some more and place a hot wet flannel or face cloth over your face for a few minutes. When the two minutes is up gently rub the excess moisturiser from your face with the cloth and voile'! Instantly glowing skin that looks less grey, more J-Lo! Diy facial for visibly clear skin... A trip to the beauty room for a facial can cost more that our monthly gym membership from most places. It feels good, although you can benefit from the same effects by using a few trusty day to day products at home.   First step: First of all dampen skin and gently rub your usual exfoliating facial scrub onto your skin in circular motions. Instead of rinsing it off, place a hot damp flannel over the skin for two minutes to open up the pores. Second step: The next step is to use place some oil in your hands and gently massage this into the skin until it sinks in to get glowing skin. Superdrug do a great skin oil for as little as £1, if you don't have this, burst open some evening primrose capsules and massage these onto the skin instead. Step 3: Once the oil has been absorbed, work in a face mask and leave to dry in for ten minutes. Choose your face mask depending on your skin type. Although I find original mudd mask 99p works best on most skin types. Step 4: Slather on some day or night time moisturiser, depending on the time of day. Use a tissue to blot the moisturiser from your t-zone area and also the areas that you find get oily during the summer. By the end of this, you should have gorgeous, clear and refreshed feeling skin which will make you feel ten times more confident! If you have any problems with your skin such as breakouts, apply a spot treatment cream over night to blemishes. A cheap alternative I find that works is Oxy- On the Spot cream, which contains Benzoyl peroxide - great for treating spots. You can buy it from most chemists and stores such as Savers, Superdrugs and Boots. No more fake tan hands.... If your desperate for a sunkissed glow but hate the after effects, especially the tangoed hands after applying fake tan, one simple way to get rid of the stains is washing your hands with toothpaste and scrubbing the fake tan off with it. It works! Supersoft fuzz-free legs... If your after super-soft and perfecntly smooth legs, but have ran out of your favourite shaving gel, lather conditioner onto your legs and shave like you would with your regular gel or foam. This is a great tip as it actually leaves legs softer than before! Once your fuzz-free make sure you massage in some thick body butter onto your legs while their still damp. This will lock in the moisture for longer. If your pins still aren't soft enough for your taste. Here's a strange tip - use your tub of vaseline to rub into your legs before you put your pjs on at night and also wrap the legs in clingfilm to lock in the softness. It may seem weird but it actually works! Big Doe Eyes.... If your after Bridgette-bardot bambi eyes, then makeup is your best bet. First of all get hold of your lash curlers, mascara, black eyeliner, white pencil liner a dark powder shadow and shadow brush. 1) First of all curl your lashes to ensure you have massive curles on your lashes. This will instantly open up your eyes and make them seem wider. 2) Use your best mascara and start the wand right at the very roots of your eyelashes. Sweep up, ensuring you get all of the mascara on the lashes. Finish with a second coat of black mascara and also coat the lower lashes and very tips of your top eyelashes again. This will lengthen them even more. 3) The next step is to use black eyeliner only on the top lid. Using it on the bottom will only make your eyes appear smaller. If your using a liquid pencil and find it hard to draw a steady line, start at the outer corner or your eye and draw a small line. Next draw a smaller line joining up to this. Finish with lining up all the small lines until your full upper lid is lined. Then you can flick the black liner up at the outer corners for feline eyes. A great alternative to liquid liner, which is my favourite is Mac's gel eyeliner. This is applied with an angled brush and is longlasting, super dark and great for eyeliner lovers. The Mac counter can also show you how to apply it quickly and easily. 4) Your eyes should already be looking full and fluttery, however if you want to go further, you can line the inside of your lower lid with the white pencil to open eyes up even more. This subtle technique makes the white of your eyes look whiter, which in turn gives you bigger and brighter looking eyes. 5) Finally, if your handy with the eyeshadow brush, you can sweep a dark smokey eyeshadow on the outer corners of the top and bottom of the eyes in a <shape>. This makes the eyes stand out more and you will notice the difference once you have mastered this technique. Well thats today's top beauty Quick Fixes but I will update you with some hot new tips again this week!
lisaboyle09 Life as a true shopaholic Dec 21, 2009 1:32 PM Not meaning to sound resoundly like the Sophie Kendal book, but the day I visited the cinema to go and see 'Confessions of a shopaholic,' I truely related to the redhead onscreen. Even though she was an actress, I felt like I was nodding my head each time the described the feeling of how shopping made her react. Walking into high street stores, I suddenly feel as though I'm at home. I am content at just looking at the beautiful clothes and accessories as first. Then bam! Suddenly a beautiful dress catches my eye or dazzling fabric touches my skin. A wash of dread runs through me, I know I shouldn't even think of buying it. After all, its christmas and the only things I should be buyng is presents for my siblings or boyfriend. It all starts like this: I glance over the item several times, clocking up items in my wardrobe and shoes and makeup that could accentuate the garment. Then comes the feeling of happiness that washed over me, How amazing would this feel to buy it. I know it will make me sooo much happier and life will feel fabulous once I'm wearing at. However then comes the guilt, the guilt about my debts, the guilt about what else I could be paying for with the money (bills). The next step is to walk away. I pace myself around the shop and often leave. I know the feeling that is about to arise. Utter sadness. Like the feeling of someone ripping your heart out and twisting it. Yes, I know it is extreme, but this is how it feels when you are a true shopaholic and fall in love with that fabric, that colour, the silhouette of that outfit that you know will hug your curves in all the right places and make men fall at your feet. The outfit that will turn heads and present you free drinks on a night out with the girls. When the sadness goes, then is the feeling of desperation, you pace to try and get away from the outfit but know that eventually you will probvably cave in. Deep down you know. You will go back again, look at the prized posession and try and come up with excuses. The excuses are never, ever enough. I'll skip lunch this week to save money. I'll find a new job. I will save up next week and not go out. Once the excuses have swept through your mind. Then comes the feeling of happiness again. You feel smart, positive. You have done what you can in order to justify the purchase. And now the card comes out. You rush to the counter to oay for it and thoughts run anxiously through your brain while you wait. Should I get it? Should I put it back just now? Whilst shuffling forward to the front of the queue. You sigh with relief when you get there. The counter girl smiles as you hand over your card. You smile back. As the item gets folded and slipped into the bag and into your hands you feel good. Calmer, as if you have achieved your goal. Walking out the store leaves feeling on top of thw world. Until the next gorgeous new style comes out .....
lisaboyle09 Trend Bite - Feminine Lace Nov 24, 2009 3:44 AM Delicate lace has always been one of the more feminine fabrics, inspired by the 1920s, lace has been making major comebacks over the past few years, however this season lace is teamed with ruffles and 80s silhouettes. Lace in shades of black, white, creame and dusky rose set the palette for a soft and romantic look. Pearls are worn delicately over lace fabrics and this season's velvet fabric makes a comeback in purples and green shades.   Lace dresses are combined with contrasting black stripes and scooped necklines. Team this fabulous dusky prink dress from Topshop, £60 with sparkly sheer patterned or even lace tights and a cut headband for a retro feel. The drop waistline makes it one of the most flattering dresses if you carry weight around your midsection and it looks fabulously trendy and like it should cost more than £60! The scallop edge lace top from ASOS is great for taking you day to night from work or college, and would look amazng with high-waisted leather leggings or just plain fitted skinny trousers. This gorgeous pearl headband will add femininity to any outfit.
lisaboyle09 Relationships & Dating.. The Rules really work? Nov 23, 2009 3:44 PM We have all heard of book phenomenon 'The Rules' where we are told that women should never return a mans calls, never look a man straight in the eye on first meeting and never, ever to accept a date from a man for a Saturday if he asks later than a Wednesday. But does the game of love really work? Are the rules fact or do they actually drive men away? It seems that playing hard to get does work on a number of occasions. Ever wondered why the man your not interested in at all keeps calling you and texting you? Ever wonder why the one you don't reply to as much adores you even though your clearly not interested? It seems this may be the reason why that guy your just not that into is clinging onto you. Men love the thrill of the chase. Men love driving fast cars and fishing for hours until eventually they get the best catch. This rule applies also applies to dating. If a man goes fishing for half an hour and catches an amazing fish do you think he's that excited? However if a man fished for hours on end and eventually catches that amazing fish, he seems pleased, satisfied and like he has earned it. If a man has to wait for you and hunt you down he enjoys this more, he loves a challenge and will feel like he has earned you when he finally gets you. This makes him believe you are even more worthy than if he were to "catch" you right away. Remember: Anything that you chase, will run away. What the rules tell us to do... Never return a man's calls, let him call you again. Never accept a date after a Wednesday for the Saturday, he will just wait until the last minute again next time around because he will think you are too available. Make him wait at least a month for sex. Yes a month. Always end the date first. Leave him wanting you more. Be a creature like no other. Confidence in a women is hard to find. Always let him pay on the first few dates at least, and then go Dutch after that. Never ask a man out or say "I've got two tickets for this gig on Saturday..." Never ask him where the relationship is going. Let him wonder where it is going... Always put yourself first before any man. Sounds like good advice to me!
