Oily skin spoiling your makeup?

This is what you call Matte!

If your a bit like myself and find yourself perfectly applying makeup precisely before leaving the house, but by noon your face is more sweaty than Matthew McConaughey after a workout, then don't fear because I've hunted down the best mattifying products to keep you as shine-free as Cheryl Cole on a daily basis.

The first step is to invest in a good mattying  primer to give a great, even base before applying foundation. This ensures that the makeup will stay on all day and also leave you with a great base for your skin before even applying any other products.

I would reccommend Loreal Paris Studio secrets anti-shine Mattifying primer which you can buy for around £10 from Superdrug stores and online. It doesn't leave skin too dry and keeps you shine free before even applying foundation.

You then should find a good foundation that matches your skintone perfectly and keeps you matte all day. If you have time, you can go to your nearest makeup counter store such as House of Fraser or Debenhams and they will match you up and let you try different foundations before deciding whether you want to buy them.

Heres the top five foundations that have helped my makeup to last even when Im sweating it out at my favourite gigs!

1) Clarins Truly Matte foundation £23 - This was a godsend for me, no matter how many foundations I had tried before, I'd never found the truly matte look I was going for. I decided to try this one and got great results. £23 from Boots and it lasts for ages so its a worthy investment. I was told I didn't need to put a powder over the top but I use a light mineral compact to keep my nose as matte as possible during the day.

2) Chanel Mat Lumier Foundation £30 - I fell in love with this foundation as soon as it was on, its great as it gives you a matte finish but also leaves a slight glow to the face to prevent your skin looking too dull. I wore this (shamefully) for two days in a row at one point as I didn't have any facial wipes after a house party and was even complimented on how great I looked! (Despite the burst-couch hair) haha!

3) Gosh X-Ceptional wear foundation £7.83 - I got this amazing foundation from superdrug and it does really last exceptionally long! Its a bit thicker than a few of the foundations and theres not that many colours of it to match some skintones but I found the shade 'sunny' to be great on despite my super pale complexion. Great when your on a budget!

4) Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation £6.84 - This drugstore foundation has been deemed as one of the best bargain foundations out. Its mousse texture feels great on the skin and they have a massive selection of colours suited to all skintones! A beauty bargain!

5) Mac Studio Fix Foundation £19 - Now who doesn't love Mac Cosmetics? Mac's studio fix foundation is another great one for a lasting finish. Lasts for hours on end and has a great texture and medium to high coverage. It also comes in a powder foundation or liquid type. Beware though, once your at the Mac counter it will be hard to tear yourself away if your a beauty junkie like me!

These are just some suggestions which I have found to work fabulously for myself, however don't be limited, go out and try out some different foundations and see what works for you!
After applying your foundation you can use concealer if you like to cover blemishes, dark circles etc. If your also looking for a long lasting concealer I'd go for Lancome's longlasting tube concealer, I've had mine for months and its great for everything!
When you have finished with your skin base, you should use either a translucent powder to set the makeup or some coloured powder if your looking for a bit of colour. This will set the makeup to make it last even longer! Throughout the day, if you need to get any extra shiny bits away then dab at them with blotting sheets or a compact powder. Voile'! Matte skin!
If your skins feeling a bit too dull with all these matte products then you can liven it up with some shimmery blusher applied on the apples of your cheeks or a glowing bronzer. This will stop your skin looking as dull if your very pale.
